Drive Shaft Couplings
A drive shaft coupling transfers power through the driveline while allowing the movement it needs. Its rubber construction helps absorb shock and vibration rather than passing it straight through the driveline.

How it works
What drive shaft couplings do — and when they need replacing
A drive shaft coupling connects sections of the driveline while allowing a controlled amount of flex between them. Its rubber construction helps cushion the shock that comes with take-off and changes in load, while also helping isolate vibration through the driveline.
Over time, the rubber can deteriorate, crack or split. As the coupling wears, that controlled flex can become excessive and may show up as vibration, movement or a clunk through the driveline.
Drive shaft couplings are often found while a workshop is investigating a driveline vibration or already has the vehicle apart for tailshaft or centre-bearing work. They're not used on every vehicle, but when an application calls for one, having the right coupling available can keep the job moving.
Trade tip: check the rest of the tailshaft
If the tailshaft is already out, it's worth checking the centre bearing, universal joints and other driveline components at the same time. Spotting another worn component while everything is apart can save pulling it down again later.
Signs of a worn drive shaft coupling
- A clunk on take-off or changes in load
- Vibration through the driveline
- Visible cracking or splitting in the rubber
- Excessive movement or deterioration around the coupling
These symptoms can have other causes, so the driveline should be properly inspected to confirm the source.
The detail
Built for the twist.
Rubber surrounds the mounting sleeves, allowing the coupling to flex as the driveline loads and unloads while helping cushion shock and vibration.
About our drive shaft couplings
Our drive shaft coupling range is deliberately focused on the applications that use them. Each coupling is matched to the original application, including its dimensions, mounting points and overall construction.
It may be one of our smaller ranges, but we keep 98%+ of it in stock — so when a workshop needs one, there's a good chance we can supply it without holding up the job.
Built to match the original
A drive shaft coupling has to flex, but it also has to keep the driveline securely connected. The rubber body, mounting sleeves, bolt pattern, thickness and overall dimensions all need to be right for the application.
That's why we match our couplings to the original part rather than treating them as interchangeable. The result is a coupling designed to fit where it should and work with the driveline the way the vehicle manufacturer intended.
Our range
Inside the drive shaft coupling range
With 800+ vehicle applications across more than 10 makes, our drive shaft coupling range covers a surprisingly broad mix of vehicles for a specialist part. From European and Japanese models to local applications, the range focuses on vehicles that use this type of flexible coupling.

With 98%+ of the range in stock, the couplings we list are generally on the shelf and ready when they're needed. We continue to add new applications as we identify gaps in the range and hear what our resellers are being asked for.
Quality & warranty
Sourced, checked, and backed.
We're careful about where our drive shaft couplings come from and what makes it into the Boonma range. We work with quality-certified manufacturers and check each part against catalogue and OE fitment data before we stock it.
Because when you put a Boonma part across the counter, we want you to be confident it's the right part for the job.
