Air Intake Hoses
More than just a length of hose. Every bend, branch and connection has a job to do, which is why the right shape and fit matter when it comes time to replace one.

How it works
What air intake hoses do — and when they need replacing
An air intake hose carries filtered air from the air box to the throttle body or turbo. It might look like a simple rubber hose, but the shape matters — the bends, diameters and connection points are made for a particular vehicle and have to fit properly around everything else under the bonnet.
Over time, engine heat, vibration and oil vapour take their toll. The rubber can harden, crack or split, allowing unmetered air into the engine. Sometimes the damage is obvious. Other times it's a small crack hidden in one of the folds that only opens up when the engine moves.
A failing intake hose can cause a rough or hunting idle, loss of power, an engine light or an air leak that's difficult to pin down. Once the problem is found, replacing it is usually straightforward — provided you've got the right hose. That's where having the range on the shelf matters.
Trade tip: match the hose, not just the diameter
Air intake hoses are application-specific. Check the part number and connection points as well as the diameter — especially any breather or sensor connections. And check the clamps while you're there; there's little point fitting a new hose and leaving an old clamp that won't seal properly.
Signs of a failing intake hose
- Rough or hunting idle
- Check-engine light or air-flow fault
- Whistle or hiss from the engine bay
- Visible cracks, splits or perished rubber
Any of these can point to an intake leak — check the hose closely, especially around the folds and connection points.

Moulded, not just cut.
Formed to match the original — with the right bends, diameters and connection points for a clean fit and proper seal.
About our air intake hoses
With over 250 air intake hoses in the range, Boonma covers many of the common replacement applications across Australian roads. From straightforward air-cleaner hoses to more complex moulded designs with multiple connection points, each is matched to the vehicle for the right shape, diameter and fit.
The result is a hose that fits where it should, connects properly and seals properly — without having to make it work.
Built to match the original
There's more to an intake hose than its two end diameters. The length, bends, internal diameter and every breather, sensor or vacuum connection need to be in the right place. Get one of those wrong and the hose either won't fit properly or won't seal as it should.
That's why we match each hose to its application and check the shape, dimensions and connection points against the original before it joins the range. The rubber also has to cope with the heat, vibration, oil vapour and constant movement of the engine bay — while staying flexible enough to do its job.
